Our badges

It was in November 2015 that we visited New York for the first time to hold an event of our canvas bags.
At the hotel we stayed, I noticed the hotel staff wore a badge which were in the shape of various tools, such as a bobbin and a ruler. When I asked why the badges were in such shapes, he smiled and answered “Because this building used to be a sewing factory. These are something like our name badges.”
Then our boss, Shinzaburo said “That’s interesting. Couldn’t we find some way to get one?”
So, I asked him to give us the badge with a bigger smile than his, and luckily, I got it.

After we returned to Japan, we started a project to make our own nice badge. We drew a design picture of tools that our craftsmen use daily, and sent it to a casting workshop in Okachimachi, Tokyo through an acquaintance of our boss.
Then, craftsmen at the workshop showed their skills. They depicted exact shapes of a sewing machine and scissors in detail, and even seams of a bag. It took one year to complete the exquisite badge just as we imagined.
The work was so excellent, that our boss even said “If this pair of scissors were actually usable, it would be perfect.”
Now, the badges are glittering proudly on the front of our clothes, and on our bags.
